ICD9 Codes for Serious Illness

List of ICD9 Codes to define and operationalize a definition of serious illness for the purpose of identifying patients and caregivers who need primary or specialty palliative care services. These ICD-9 codes do not include Parkinson’s disease or stroke, both of which are included on the ICD-10 list.
